Since this spring Leonhard Pfeifer’s “sushi board” has shown up several times in design magazines.

As Leonhard told me yesterday, his sushi board is ready to sell now!

Biggest plus: the sushi board is incredibly space saving on a small table or a bar.

It is supplied with 2 sets of chopsticks, each plate has an integrated soy sauce bowl and the board is finished with a non-toxic lacquer. He named it a sushi board, but - combining style with function - of course it’s just as useful for cheese and crackers, tapas, canopes - in fact you could use it to serve everything except soup.

Uhh… another lovely gem that caught my eyes during my Tendence’s reconnaissances:

I already raved of Ibiza a few days ago… but the fact that Cafes Ibiza is a leading company in its field with a long tradition in the roasting and manufacture of finest coffees… that was new to me. They were born in nineteen-fifty and since then, they have been selecting the finest harvests to offer us their Balearic flavor.

First to say: I like the design of their packaging!!! Buy 20 packs and decorate them in one of your open kitchen cabinets …looks great! - that’s how they were presented at the fair.

A simple cheap candle is hidden under a cute little dome and voilá: a wonderfully warm glow emits from underneath… But don’t just get one, you’ll need a couple to really make it a nice presentation… Also works well as a reading light next to your bed, as it is not too bright and not flickering even though your window is open…

Alessi has been making watches for quite some time now, and for their fall/winter collection they got a hold of Patricia Urquiola’s amazing talent again. She is best known for her furniture designs for the who is who of italian furniture designers (B&B, Molteni & c., Moroso, Kartell and many others) and for her amazing showrooms and trade shows for Knoll and Sag 80 among others. She was featured in the International Design Yearbook and was a lecturer at the famed Domus Academy. Now she returned to Alessi to design the ‘Buckle’. The underlying principle is that of a - buckle - duh. This way you are not bound to the wristband, but are free to attach it to plenty other bands as well. German pocket knife masters Reichartz are constantly developing new products - mostly pocket knives, which is not really my terrain, but here is an extremely beautiful travel manicure set. Not just does it match your Tumi travel set perfectly, it also has a very ingenious closure and presentation mechanism - only german engineers would think of such a solution - and what can I say, the products actually work well too. Haven’t found a retailer in the US yet, but will update you once I find one. If anybody has seen them here I’d appreciate a quick note.
