Garmin nüvi
nüvi” could be your new versatile travel assistant that’s approximately the size of a deck of playing cards. The “nüvi” is a portable GPS navigator, traveler’s reference, and digital entertainment system, all in one coming from GARMIN. Combined with detailed maps, the nüvi provides automatic routing, turn-by-turn voice directions, and finger-touchscreen control—making it easy to find your way anywhere. The unique “text-to-speech” feature calls out turns by street name. Additional audio and content support is provided for the optional Garmin Travel Guide and Garmin Language Guide software packages.

From my point of view - perhaps you already know that I am addicted to Mini - this was one of this year’s IAA highlights.

Nothing really new on the Mini booth beside this:
Mini Clubman
It’s 45 years after the premiere of the “Mini Traveller” in september 1960 that Mini presented this latest design study “Mini Concept Frankfurt” at the IAA looking back at the classic Traveller and concentrated on two words - access and loading.

The front design is quite close to the actual Mini - in some details a little more striking. The MINI Concept’s character is emphasised by retractable aluminium headlamps, air vents that turn into cup holders, and a central navigation screen that flips round to be replaced by a Jules Verne-style globe.

Thanks to Josh Spear, we have made two wonderful new friends this week end: Charles and Marie. His new project is an amazing roller coaster ride when it comes to all things life style, which we obviously adore. A shop which will feature limited editions and pre launches, discerning city guides full of juicy stories, and a daily special really impress us here. And Charles and Marie are some pretty amazing personalities…

So make sure to say hello to Charles and Marie, hopefully you know somebody who knows them as well so you can get an invitation to the ‘invitation only’ area, if not… well, patience is a virtue…

Puro beach musicA few weeks ago we introduces the Purobeach hotel to you, which has been voted one of the top ten places to be - not only by Conde Nast Traveller.

Music is one part that is making a place very special and that’s why… This is the first in a brand new series of double compilations “Purobeach” released by seamlessrecordings.

Leading bargrooves DJ Ben Sowton begins this compilation as Purobeach does its day: A deeply relaxing soundscape awash with soothing beats and unwinding melodies. Expertly selected, this bespoke mix perfectly compliments the poolside calm of Purobeach’s Mediterranean setting - a refined blend of tracks purpose made for such designer slacking.

Amongst them, music from one of The Netherlands’ foremost downtempo producers: Alex Cortiz. If the UK has the likes of Nightmares On Wax; France has Air; Austria has Kruder & Dorfmeister; then Holland has Mr Cortiz. The aforementioned Austrian, Richard Dorfmeister, also makes his mark on disc one clad in his Tosca robes: ‘Chocolate Elvis’ was a mid-‘90s underground hit championed by the likes of Gilles Peterson. Here it appears in its slick Boozoo Bajou Soul Sufferer form.

The soundtrack is a sun-soaked mix of chilled house and downtempo grooves. Buy this album, and bring a ray of mediterranean sunshine into your life!

At the Quai Chicane in Port Hercule Wally will premiere “Open Season” - the new 29-meter (94-foot) sailing yacht - and “Lunch Boat” - the first 67 WallyPower.
Open Season is developed from the successful lines of Y3K, while the deck and interior layouts follow the concept of Tiketitan’s.
?
Wallypower67 Lunch Boat is the first yacht of the new motor yacht line 67 WallyPower, the new motor yacht design that integrates design and technology and combines the open-air living characteristics of the WallyTender, with the hull lines of the 118 WallyPower.

Fuel cell technology should be a worthwhile alternative in times when the price for oil keeps rising and rising. env shows the world’s first purpose-built fuel cell motorcycle which could be a first answer to ever increasing energy costs. This technology helps us continue to enjoy the benefits and pleasures of mobility without mortgaging the health of the planet.

CoreAfter years of research and development, hydrogen power is no longer a distant dream and can be packed in such a neat and compact “Core” that good design is no longer limited. By the nature of its electrochemical reaction, a fuel cell can be more than twice as efficient as an internal combustion engine!

ElfcraftWolfgang A. Elfers designs very individual pieces of jewelry. I met him yesterday in his workshop in Hamburg. In his early days he was driven by the question: “Should men wear jewelry and fashionable accessories like women do?”

He answered this general question in his very individual and extraordinary way by designing several pieces of men’s jewelry. First single designs extended into a fascinating collection of jewelry including bracelets, necklaces, cufflinks, belts, biker chains, rings and a lot of individual pieces - even manufactured according to customer’s wishes.

Elfcraft2You will not find his latest gems on his website - as for example, there are some new and really beautiful leather bracelets with decorated sterling clasps… I had to buy some of this.

GQ USA is about to feature his collection in one of their next issues… let’s wait to see some new!

You favor wine instead of a sixpack cold beer for tonight’s dinner? Or you simply want to stack your wines for cooking in a space saving way?

I love to present my selection of 6 “premier cru” for next weekend’s dinner this way…

Wine Harry Allen’s whimisical and practical 2005 release in the Reality Series is a polyster resin cast of a joined wine bottles which have been sliced in half. The resulting object forms the base for creating or presenting stacked wine bottles.

Available in matte black or gypsum white.?

Finally a great bag!

Sereflective

I have been looking for the appropriate bag to assist me on my travels forever. The kind of bag that is big and allows you to carry tons of samples and brochures without straining your shoulders. It must be smart and organized so you’ll find all your gadgets easily and don’t have to start searching for hours, without having the über geek appeal, some of the ‘connected bags’ have. It should also look cool, so you are not mistaken with the messenger that usually shows up in the office… Obviously the laptop has to easily fit inside as well… You know that kind of bag that doubles as a head rest on 9 hour lay overs in Kuala Lumpur or elsewhere…

Well, enough said, here is my favorite and it is definitely not from any brand you have ever heard of: Tom Bihn. I googled the web and literally looked at hundreds if not thousands of bags and then I found Tom. His website is a tiny bit clunky, but he has a great attitude, great products and a nice way of putting your desired bag together. And the bag is awesome. I took it to Paris for the last weeks and it really performed. Whether at M&O or in town, nothing to complain about.
